If you're not ready to hand over any cash, Total AV Free Edition (opens in new tab) has on-demand scanning only (no real-time protection) and basic web filtering for the cost of precisely nothing at all. Bitdefender's excellent Premium Security includes a full VPN and is almost identically priced ($60 year one, $150 afterwards), or you can cover 25 devices with Avira Prime for only $130. But the price jumps again to $59 in year one, and a chunky $150 on the first renewal, $170 afterwards. Total AV Total Security (opens in new tab) lifts support to six devices, and throws in an ad blocker and a password manager. If you're looking for an antivirus and VPN from the same provider, Avira Prime has many more features, and is $99 a year (even covering 25 devices only costs $130.) Seems expensive for a suite which doesn't even include a firewall. Total AV Internet Security (opens in new tab) adds a Windscribe-powered VPN (opens in new tab) and looks good value at $39 in year one, but that jumps to $119 on the first renewal, $139 afterward. Bitdefender Antivirus Plus doesn't have the same PC maintenance features, but it's a capable antivirus app, and is $30 in year one, only $60 on renewal.
